Matt Maldonado
Attorney
Matt Maldonado was born in San Angelo, TX and raised in Eden, TX in a small ranching community. Growing up Matt played football, basketball, and enjoyed other academic activities throughout his high school career.
Shortly after, at the age of 17, in 2000 he enlisted in the ARMY where he obtained numerous combat awards and eventually left active service in 2010.
Matt attended Texas State University in the Spring of 2011 where he earned a Bachelors in Applied Arts and Science degree in 2013.
After undergrad, he attended St. Mary’s University and received his JD in 2013. While at St. Mary’s he was a Staff Writer for the Scholar and on the St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice.
“Becoming a lawyer has been a journey that I feel is a direct progression from my service in the military. As a soldier, you take an oath to support and defend the Constitution. A defense attorney is the last line of defense when the system attempts to take your freedom. I went to school to be a teacher and the VA had more money available for me to use. So I gave law school a shot.”
“I joined BRCK to have support from staff and I got tired of chasing clients and taking a lot of court appointments. BRCK gives me the opportunity to try cases that will help to sharpen my trial skills and build a reputation as a knowledgeable Criminal Defense Attorney.”
When Matt is not in the courtroom, he spends his time with his amazing family and on the soccer fields as a President of Surge Soccer Club in San Marcos, Texas.
